Calbee Ebisen X Kappa Ebisen (Prawn Crackers) Chilli Pepper Review: When the Kappa Ebisen goes premium, it was worth to pay for it.

It will make your taste buds burning up.

Hi, EvolGarlic here, and welcome everyone to the weekly newsletter, sending from your truly EvolGarlic Article Pelican:

It was a Christmas week, so it was a cold week in Thailand, especially in the northeast, where winds are cold, the mist occupies the morning, and the sun might not have a chance to fight those cold winds and in the morning, the temperature might be in between 13-19 celcius.

As a traditional thing for myself, it was a time to enjoy myself some spicy snack to cure the cold weather, and enjoying Christmas week, last year I was enjoying the Karamucho Spicy Potato Chips, which are unique and authentic potato chip which pack a heat that could make your face red, but this year, I was into something different.

I was shopping in the 7-11 one day, and I was walking past this Kappa Ebisen snack that was sitting there in the shelf, it was more expensive than the regular one, but in front of the pack are showing me the thicker Kappa Ebisen that was more thicker than the regular one, so I was doubt it will be taste like disappointment, so I brought one to taste test it, and see if the thicker and bigger are in fact “Better”

WhatI don't know was, this one was made by Calbee, the company who started this snack at first place, so I have a high hope that Calbee would not let me down, since Calbee is the one who started Kappa Ebisen, they should know the direction and how to make it right, if not, that would be really disappointing, and if it not spicy, that would be more disappointments than the time I was expecting my favorite food place is opening, but it was closed.

As it turns out, I discovered that my hope is actually going in the right direction, as I unpack and taste it, and since it was in the winter, it was spicy like no one else did.

To sum up the taste and how it went, I can tell you that this snack was exactly Kappa Ebisen in every bite, just like the regular one, but with thicker and bigger body of each chip, it gives me more texture and chewing punch, and as for the spicy taste, it was spicy, like you chewing the real chilli pepper, but instead of getting a unbearable spicy sensation that you would normally find when chewing real chilli pepper (while you eating food that have it or if you are maniac, chewing the real one) but have a Kappa Ebisen taste to balance it up.

Despite the punch of spicy that could give you a red face, the price for one Calbee Ebisen X Kappa Ebisen (Prawn Crackers) Chilli Pepper is 30 baht, which is ten baht more than the regular one, but the fact is, the taste, the premium feeling that actually delivers it right, and the quality and quantity are right, it was worth paying for it.

So if you live in Thailand and wanna taste the craftsmanship of the pioneer of Kappa Ebisen that goes well with everything, find it on 7-11 and other minimart stores, make sure you have a glass of milk handy though, because it is so spicy, it might be unbearable!

Score: 10 out of 10 Shimps giving thumbs up.
